Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for concerns to be raised about his position following another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in twelve matches, representing the team's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got significant support from above,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Problems and Player Response

The manager lamented recurring failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell like this with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we will always battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to the top, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
