An extensive extended voyage around the Land Down Under was terminated days after the tragic passing of an elderly woman who was abandoned by the vessel on a distant island.

The passenger had been trekking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the vessel, but broke off from the party for a pause. The liner left without her and returned several hours later after the personnel realised the passenger was not present.

An extensive hunt found her body the following day.

Authorities are examining the event, alongside investigators and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the cruise operator said that passengers and personnel on the ship were notified that the rest of the voyage had been called off due to the "sad loss and prior engine troubles".

In a statement, he added that guests would be given a full refund, and said the operator was working "to arrange the travel back of the travelers via private aircraft".

Regulatory bodies also published an revised communication, and said they had "delivered a directive to the Commander" prohibiting any additional guests from boarding the liner.

The official said that they would attend the liner in Cairns upon its coming back.

Chronology of Incidents

The liner first departed the coastal city on the 24th of October, and was only 48 hours into the expedition at the time of the senior passenger's demise. The remote island was the initial destination on the itinerary.

Guests on the vessel - who generally pay tens of thousands of money to join the expedition - were transported there for a daily excursion with the choice of trekking or snorkeling.

Family Reaction

The offspring of the deceased woman said that her family was "surprised and saddened that the ship left the island after an scheduled outing without my mum".

Via her announcement, she portrayed her mother as an "active elderly person" who was a member of a hiking group.

"According to scant details we have been told, it seems that there was a failure of attention and basic judgment," she stated.

She continued that she hoped the examination would be able to determine what "the organization should have performed that might have preserved Mum's being".
