Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at Age 60.

American entertainer Finn, who featured in beloved programs including Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in LA recently after undergoing treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, per news outlets.

"Pat never met a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his family shared in a announcement.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of well-known programs, like:

  • King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe called "Beer Shark Mice".

"Pat guided, supported, and advised countless students during his career and it would be difficult to find anyone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

In a tribute, fellow actor actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.

Pat Finn is leaves behind his spouse Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
