Fresh Details Come to Light Regarding the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Recent details have emerged regarding the shocking passing of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.
The Discovery
As detailed in an account quoting a person close to the family, a practitioner arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the home. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
Upon entering the house, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had gone with her contacted 911. Subsequently, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Charges
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now detained and denied bail.
Clarifications
The anonymous source challenged several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.
Additionally refuted widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement also extends to descriptions of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
