Netflix Casts Ideal Star for Mr. 2 in One Piece Upcoming Installment

Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the real showdown won’t take place until the next season, and a adored, popular member has just been cast.

The platform declared Tuesday that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece cast for the third season and will embody Mr. 2. Bon Clay possesses the power to morph into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve touched with their main hand. The actor, who is identifies as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a interpretation of that figure reinterpreted as gender non-binary, as opposed to as a drag artist, in the live-action show, differing from the source material and animated series.

The new cast member will work alongside a number of recently announced actors tasked with bringing the organization to life, featuring leader the main antagonist, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and a familiar face, who is also part of the ensemble as the monarch of the desert kingdom.

Although Bon Clay is a key figure of Baroque Works, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. Given season 2 set to cover the Little Garden storyline, this signals a notable change in the placement of the character’s debut, one that could signal more adjustments to the plot development.

Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the part. Along with their latest vocal work in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for penning and acting in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.

Netflix's live-action One Piece show is set to return for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
