Pat Bamford Signs With the Blades After Initiating Abusive Chants About Coach Chris Wilder

The striker is now a member of the Championship side only seven months after leading disrespectful songs aimed at their manager, Wilder.

This experienced striker, without a club after departing from Leeds, has signed a agreement with the Championship club in difficulty through the winter. Bamford's seven-year time at Elland Road finished by mutual consent this past summer.

One of Bamford’s final notable acts as a Leeds player involved leading abusive songs about Wilder amid the club’s promotion celebrations in April. Now, the former England international is set to play for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss looks to lift his beloved club out of the bottom places.

Past History Involving the Striker & Wilder

The pair had previous conflict prior to Leeds moved up to the top flight last season and United lost the promotion decider to Sunderland. Wilder called the forward as “a muppet” back when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and the Blades secured automatic promotion whereas Leeds United fell short in the playoffs.

Making Amends & Looking Ahead

Everything seems has been resolved with Sheffield United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, urgently requiring of a boost up front while Bamford hoping to resurrect his career.

The song about Wilder spread widely this spring. A repentant Bamford along with Leeds boss, Farke, called Wilder the next day.

Chris Wilder stated at the time: “Spoke with Pat recently and I’ve no problem at all with it. I’m not sure about the language from a fellow professional! However I valued and admired him giving me a call.

“We had 20 minutes and similarly I spoke to Daniel as well and had a half-hour chat together and he is a great person, a top guy. When I was playing we would dish it out and accept it and that is part and parcel of football at every level, including Sunday league. I've got no problem at all. I am cool with it and I told him that to Pat.”

Recent Playing Challenges

Bamford featured in 18 games for Leeds in the previous campaign but the former Forest, Chelsea and Boro player has struggled with injury in recent years.
